OUTLINE ITINERARY:

CAMBODIA SUPERTOUR 2017, January 25th – 12th February


Day 1 Arrive in Siem Reap and check into your hotel. Team dinner with all the participants. Siem Reap is unrivalled for its choice of hotels and guesthouses, SVC has contracts with a number of Boutique level hotels, individual in style and offering excellent value for money. We can add a pre or post trip extension to the SuperTour allowing you more time to explore Angkor and relax.
Day 2 Visiting Angkor Great Park for temples and birds such as Oriental Darter in the moat, Hainan Blue, Taiga and Asian Brown Flycatchers, White-throated Rock-Thrush, Black Baza, Blue Rock Thrush, Forest Wagtails, Greater Racquet-tailed Drongos, Asian Barred Owlets, Coppersmith Barbet, Ashy Minivet, Yellow-browed and Pale-legged Leaf-Warbler, Red-breasted and Alexandrine Parakeets and White-crested Laughing Thrushes.
Day 3 Visit the Core Bird Reserve of Prek Toal on the Tonle Sap Great Lake close to Prek Toal floating village, for Greater Adjutant, Milky Stork, and large water bird colonies.
Day 4 Visit the Sarus Crane Reserve at Ang Trapaeng Thmor (ATT) rebuilt by slave labour.
Day 5-6 Trip to Changkran Roy – our new birding site, 1 hour from Siem Reap for an overnight trip, to look for target species Bar-billed Ground-cuckoo, Bar-bellied Pitta, Scaly-breasted Partridge, Silver-breasted Broadbill, Banded Broadbill and Oriental Bay Owl. Stay one night in a tent, then go back to Siem Reap the following afternoon.
Day 7-8 AM birding to Florican Grassland; PM birding to Prey Veng, new community managed ecolodge, a home of White-winged Duck and untouched Dry Dipterocarp Forest.
Day 9-10 AM birding around Prey Veng; PM birding to Tmatboey. Overnight Tmatboey Lodge, winner of the Wild Asia Responsible Tourism Award in 2008 and iconic Giant Ibis site.
Day 11 AM Tmatboey. Transfer to vulture restaurant at Boeng Toal. Overnight safari tented accommodation.
Day 12 AM birding Vulture Restaurant. PM transfer to Kratie seeing the Asian Golden Weaver.
Day 13-15 AM birding at Kratie for Mekong Wagtail and other riverine species, PM transfer to Mondulkiri and Keo Seima Wildlife Sanctuary. Stay at Sen Monorom hotel.
Day 16 Transfer to Kampot, enroute stop at Cambodian Tailorbird, a world new species discovered in 2012 and is endemic for Cambodia
Day 17-18 Visit Bokor National Park for a nearly Cambodian endemic Chestnut-headed Partridge, Silver Broadbill, Long-tailed Broadbill, Indochinese Green Magpie, Great Hornbill, Wreathed Hornbill, Wedge-tailed Green Pigeon.

 EXTENSION TO AURAL MOUNTAIN:

Day 9 Visit Saltpan near Kampot town in the morning and transfer to the Sre Ken Bei village for overnight.
Day 20-21 Take motorbike to the foothill; birding and climbing up Aural. It will be a strenuous climb and we would never recommend to people with knee problems! Our key bird targets at Aural are: Cambodian Laughingthrush, Chestnut-headed Partridge, Silver-breasted Broadbill, Long-tailed Broadbill, Blue Pitta, Great Hornbill, Wreathed Hornbill, Green Cochoa, Mountain Scops Owl and other high elevation species.
Day 22 Descend the mountain with easy birding back to the vehicles, then travel to Phnom Penh hotel to rest.
Day 23 Transfer to airport for departure and say good bye!
